A reality that stretches over 10 kilometers

Tannery district situated in the lower Valdarno extends about 10 kilometers and includes the towns of Castelfranco di Sotto, Montopoli Valdarno, Santa Croce sull'arno, Santa Maria a Monte and San Miniato.

The district is one of the leading companies in the field of skins, both nationally and internationally: counts the 35% of the national production of skins and the 98% of sole leather.

The first activities date back to the mid 19th century; with the second world war there was a large expansion of tanneries, which went to confirm this activity in the social fabric of the area.

The production model today is made up of small and medium-sized enterprises that operate in conjunction with third-party activities linked to them. Today, thanks to the high standards of technology companies increased considerably the range of products offered.
