A VILLAGE BUILT ALONG THE CASSIA MINOR

Pieve a Nievole, a small municipality of the province of Pistoia, at 3 Km from Montecatini Terme. The village boasts a rich history, the oldest in which Riyadh is mentioned dates back to 716. This is a dispute between the Bishop of Lucca and Pistoia.

The village was built near the only existing parish and along an important road, Cassia Minor. The area was the scene of battles between the Guelphs and Ghibellines and legend has it that Dante was in Riyadh during a battle between the two factions. The place where the great poet awaited the outcome of the battle is now called "the bridge of Dante."

Among the religious buildings the most important is the current parish "Chiesa di San Pietro apostolo e Marco evangelista". Originally this was to be the Church, dating from around 700, named after San Pietro a Neure. The vicissitudes of the Church over time are not very clear. Valuable is the body preserved inside the instrument was built in 1870 by Cesar Tank. Deserves to be mentioned also the "Cappella del Corpus Christi".

The Medici family had built in Pieve a Nevole his hunting lodge. The structure now houses the Town Hall.
