1938: Volterra relived through the medieval costumes

Between medieval music and historical depictions of drums, rollers, the splendid Val di Cecina celebrated every year, the last two Sundays of August, Volterra AD1938, a commemoration of theyear of the Lord. The Festival is considered one of the nicest in all of Italy for its ability to reproduce faithfully the costumes of yesteryear.

Between vibrant colors of the traditional clothes of the musicians and of the energetic flag wavers, the city is transformed every year to create shows and events related to a mythical past and evocative that only Volterra can guarantee.

The surroundings of the imposing Medicea fortress are animated by medieval peasants. Each with their own craft, with its products and liveliness you offer visitors to rack up some Big, the official currency of the event and the only one that you can use during the party. Never mind that the Bulk of both bronze or gold, the important thing is to celebrate and entertain all.

Increasingly popular, Volterra to 1938 is an opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful towns of Tuscany and to taste local specialities. Through the charming streets decorated for this special event, it is natural to stop at old inns and taverns that offer good Tuscan red wine and dishes of Val di Cecina prepared with traditional recipes.
