THE VILLAGE HIDDEN IN THE FORESTS OF GARFAGNANA
Villa Collemandina nestles in the hills of the Garfagnana and overlooks the Apennine foothills. This special position allows her to relax on green fields, but at the same time to be surrounded by thick chestnut woods.
The village has Etruscan origin, but the earliest buildings were at the hands of the Romans. Like most villages in the Garfagnana from that era, including Villa Collemandina developed as a defensive Center, but the municipality was formed only in the early nineteenth century.
The main points of interest of Villa Collemandina are today the Church and the cloister embellished by columns made of sandstone. Both buildings are perched on the hill overlooking the village, built on the ruins of a medieval castle.
