Do you think the cradle of haute couture is the city of Milan? Well, you're wrong.
Tuscany, Florence,is the cradle of Italian haute couture.
It all began in February 1951 when, at Villa Torrigiani, the first historic "show" organized by Giovan Battista Giorgini was held to present Italian fashion to the world, in front of 6 important American buyers.
Here were presented the collections of designers such as the Fontana sisters, Jole Veneziani, Emilio Pucci and Maison Carosa. Now in its 4th edition, Giorgini moved the location of the fashion shows to the White Room of Palazzo Pitti: since then Pitti has become synonymous with the new era of Italian fashion.
Since then, the Italian style, admired and mentioned everywhere, was born in Florence and then in Tuscany.
Fashion-related curiosities
In addition to renowned boutiques, the city is home to the only Italian museum dedicated to fashion, the Costume Gallery and even the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.
In addition, the Tuscan capital boasts a centuries-old memory also in the leather goods sector: Florence, but all of Tuscany, have from their presence numerous artisan workshops where you can find timeless fashion accessories, such as bags, belts and shoes.
The artisanal guilds in Florence have played a key role for the city since the 12th century.
The Arts and Crafts Corporations had to organize the city's artisans: shoemakers, jewelry makers, painters and virtually every kind of creative imaginable.
The shops in Tuscany
Every craftsman with his workshop has created the reputation of Florence, and of the whole of Tuscany, and this sense of pride still resonates today with high-quality garments and accessories, handmade, refined and unique; all Made in Tuscany, thanks to a talent handed down for generations.
Resistant, soft: as only Italian skin can be. Leather belts are a comfortable garment, almost a passepartout to match on several occasions, and that will complete any outfit.
Plus: As the best things, the more you use them the more they acquire charm.
The leather bags found in Italy have no competitors in the rest of the world. Especially in Tuscany, the market offers different stores and artisans able to create bags with different textures, embossing and different colors.
The price may vary depending on the size, but the quality always remains excellent.
