There is a history of cycling which was able to keep in suspense millions of Italians, a segment of the population a sport lover where only concentration and physical sacrifice can bring to the finish line. Is keeping in mind the teaching of two great Italian cyclists Coppi and Bartali that initiative designed by Giancarlo Bansal in 1997 has become the Eroica.
This unique cycling event is held on the first Sunday in October between the famous "white roads" that crisscross the hills of Siena; Besides having the distinction of reminiscing about cycling than once with bicycles and vintage clothing, aims to promote and enhance the environmental heritage of this charming piece of Tuscany. A blast from the past in the gap of narrow streets that connect between them the beautiful farms, cottages and vineyards adorning the green hills of Siena.
The success of the race is now in the numbers, with over 7000 members who come from all over the world to participate and more than 15,000 visitors that in October in the village of Gaiole in Chianti, starting point of the race. The Eroica is also a permanent path that winds through the Chianti roads and passable all year round, with two routes available to the "heroic" who want to attempt the feat, one along from 205 kilometers and one medium from 135.
