The Best Chinese Restaurants in Florence

Asian flavours in the heart of the city

Although Florence is famous for pappa al pomodoro, lampredotto or the classic Florentine steak, we understand that, every now and then, you may want to get away from the Tuscan flavors and experience something different. So, we love the cuisine of our city, but we understand how important it is to escape a certain food monotony: Florence, despite being an Italian culinary oasis, hides some precious gems of international cuisine, especially Chinese cuisine, if you know where to look.

1. Ba Shi Fu - Santa Maria Novella

Are you looking for authentic Sichuan food?

Ba Shi Fu is the perfect destination in Florence. Their menu is extensive and one of the things we love is that they haven't "westernized" the spice level, especially when it comes to chili.

In addition to the classics, our favorites include spicy eggplant and lamb with cumin. Spartan setting for one of the best Chinese restaurants in Florence, 80s service with even half an hour of waiting: whether you want to dine on-site or opt for takeaway, sharing family-style dishes is the best way to explore the authentic flavor of Sichuan.

2. Wine and Ravioli at Porta al Prato

This no-frills Chinese restaurant just outside Porta al Prato offers a simplicity that's all its strength. The menu is as simple as its name: seven types of ravioli (seven pieces for €3-4.5 depending on whether you choose gourmet ones) and wine for only €1 per glass. Plus, you'll find delicious skewers that will make your mouth water – incredibly cheap and incredibly tasty.

3. Impression Chongqing - in St. Lawrence

Not very visible on Via Sant'Antonino, this Sichuan restaurant is a true culinary gem. They offer a wide variety of dishes, including stir-fried meat, dried vegetables, and a wide selection of offal. Although the place is relatively well-known, having long been one of the best Chinese restaurants in Florence, you usually won't have to wait long to be served: they don't take reservations but the authentic flavor of Sichuan will make you want to come back to try more dishes.

A little tip: always check if it is open before you go, because sometimes the management closes to return to China for a while.

4. Dim Sum - Via Antonio Magliabechi

Dim sum is an amazing place, impeccable inside, with a simple menu made of noodles, dumplings, ginger chicken, Cantonese rice.

A big plus is the open kitchen that allows you to keep an eye on the chefs while they work. The menu offers various ravioli with different fillings, particular, from those with lobster to those with truffles, all very good. Prices are a bit higher than a Chinese restaurant, but in line with the prices of restaurants in the center of Florence.

A room furnished in a modern way and with several rooms, spacious.

5. Little Incense Alley -  Via Rosina

Come here when you're hungry for an unparalleled hot pot. What is it? A hot broth where you can cook whatever you like. This is the pride of the restaurant Little Incense Alley, where they mainly eat Chinese soups: so their strong point is the broth, even in the spicy version.

New to the hot pot? The staff will help you in the experience, especially if you are a beginner. They are also attentive to dietary needs and there is plenty of vegetarian choice for those who do not consume meat and/or animal derivatives.

Yes, Florence is famous for its authentic cuisine, but you don't have to look too far to discover some non-local delicacies that speak of faraway places.
