VILLAGE AMONG PICTURESQUE WOODS
The municipality of Talla is a village perched on a cliff; There are few flat areas and almost all of the land is covered by forests of chestnut, oak and beech. Away from industrial centres, the village is the ideal place to spend some days in contact with the authentic nature of the Casentino. La Castellaccia is the original nucleus of the country which includes the Church dated around the year 1000 and a small cluster of houses, including the birthplace of Guido Monaco (music theorist), current site of Museo della musica.
Of ancient origins, Etruscan presence in these areas is documented by various archaeological and the etymology of the name. Tallulah is a noble Etruscan name, derived from a deity to which the site was probably dedicated. In Roman times, the roads of Talla made essential joint between the upper Valdarno and the Casentino. By the end of the ' 300, the territory entered the orbit of the city of Florence, which was submitted in March of 1384.
Traditions and typicality
Mountain communities like Talla chestnut has always been an essential resource for subsistence. The big chestnut spread throughout the Casentino allowed, over time, this fruit became the hallmark of the Valley. The casentinese chestnut, in its different varieties Pistolese, Raggiolana and Tigolese is considered the typical product of excellence.
