VILLAGE AMONG OLIVE TREES
The village is situated on the slopes of Monte Amiata and a portion of the Val d'Orcia, hilly and mountainous.
Seggiano was born in the 10th century as a possession of the Abbazis of San Salvatore; from the second half of the 200 was under the Dominion of Siena. Remained under the Republic of Siena until 1555 year that became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, following from then on its fortunes. The medieval village is surrounded by walls still visible, dating back to the 10th century, that surround the town.
One of the most important monuments of the country and all mount Amiata is located just outside the town, surrounded by olive trees, and is the Santuario della Madonna della Carità, the only example of a central European mannerist architecture built between 1589 and 1603.

In the municipality of Seggiano holidaymaking olivastra seggianese whose plant is capable to resist to low temperatures of Monte Amiata. The Consorzio dell’Olivastra Seggianese was born for its protection with the aim of guaranteeing quality and enhancing the product. The oil has a particularly sweet taste and a slightly spicy, fruity aroma and herbal notes of artichoke. The production area enjoys the IGP (protected geographical indication), and the olive oil of Seggiano, obtained from olive groves consist of at least 85% by olive trees of Seggiano detected designation DOP (protected designation of origin).
