THE WHITE BEACHES IN COSTA DEGLI ETRUSCHI
San Vincenzo is situated on the coast south of Livorno, its beaches are lapped by the Tyrrhenian Sea and today the country is one of the most famous seaside resorts of the Tuscan region. Its name stands for the first time around 1285 to Torre di San Vincenzo, named after the medieval tower built by Pisa near the port that together with a series of coastal fortifications protected the land from the Saracen raids. In 1406 after the fall of Pisa, San Vincenzo, then still part of the municipality of Campiglia Marittima, came under the control of Florence. The fate of the country followed those of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany until the unification of Italy. San Vincenzo became an autonomous municipality and independent from Campiglia Marittima only in 1949.
Traditions
As usual in April in the beautiful beach of St Vincent is the Palio della Costa Etrusca. To challenge all municipalities along the Costa degli Etruschi: San Vincenzo, Piombino, Cecina, Bibbona, Castagneto, Suvereto, Campiglia, Rosignano with as many jockeys riding horses.
Typical products
The town lives mostly of summer tourism, in may, ample space is given to the event Tutti pazzi per la Palamita. The "palamita" is a typical fish of this marine area with which we prepare many traditional local dishes that you can enjoy during the party at the many food stands that populate San Vincenzo.
