UNESCO HERITAGE
The rock on which stands the town of Radicofani dominates the Val d'Orcia and the straw that are close to the Via Francigena and is one of the five municipalities of Val d'Orcia recognized by UNESCO World Heritage site for its landscape; for years also boasts of the Bandiera Arancione of the Touring Club. The name Radicofani is derived from the name of a King of the Lombards "Rachis hofen — Court of Rachis".
In 1200 is the outpost of the famous gentleman Bandit Ghino di Tacco, mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy, that exploits the position along the via Francigena robbed passersby of their assets by offering him though in Exchange for a banquet. In the old town you can admire the imposing Rocca with the Cassero and fortifications still visible, through the streets full of medieval palaces worth visiting the Church of St. Agata and the Church of St. Pietro Apolosto of the 13th century that contain within them the works of Della Robbia.
Traditions and Typical products
The territory is located in Radicofani consists of clay hills very excellent for the cultivation of wine, here produces the Orcia red DOC. The undisputed star of Orcia wines is Sangiovese. Particularly developed is also sheep farming for the production of milk and cheeses with a unique taste.
