THE LAND OF LUNIGIANA SPECIALTIES
In the heart of the Valle della Magra, Podenzana is always a borderland between Tuscany and Liguria.
The Castle, the subject of contention between the Tuscan families during the middle ages, dominates the entire Valley in which is placed the country making the picturesque landscape of Lunigiana a real wonder.
One of the places worth visiting is the Santuario della Madonna della Neve. A small 17th-century Church, behind which is a chestnut tree from which it is said, our lady appeared.
Traditions and Typical products
The typical dish of Podenzana is the "panigaccio", a special bread that is baked in special testi, earthen pots resting on a wood fire for cooking.
It is tradition of Podenzana organize every year a Festival offering several pairs for this bread: salted with Tuscan cold cuts or pesto of Lunigiana, and cakes with jam or chocolate.
