THE ROMANESQUE VILLAGE FULL OF BEAUTIFUL CHURCHES
Pescaglia was founded in Roman times, but the origin of the name is uncertain. It is thought to come from pascualia because in antiquity was known as grazing land or from the Latin piscare for its abundance of fishing in the nearby river Serchio.
The village, rich of churches and palaces he had a lot of development around 1500 thanks to lucchesi that fortified the area. Examples are the Church of St Peter and St Paul and the Church of St Giovanni Battista, just outside the town. In addition to historic architecture, interesting is the Museo del Castagno of Colognora of Pescaglia.
