THE VILLAGE OVERLOOKING THE VALDERA
Peccioli overlooking the lush greenery of the Tuscan countryside and is positioned on the hills of the Valdera, in an elevated position from which stands out from the surrounding context.
The village has an ancient history traced back to before the year 1000 and still retains almost intact its original structure. The Castle which stood in the center of the country was considered important to control the territory, and was contested by Volterra, Pisa and Florence during the middle ages.
Walking through the streets of the village you can see all the old world charm through the historic buildings. Palazzo Pretorio is an example of medieval structure, which preserves the façade the coats of arms of the noble families who lived in the village. You can visit the Parco Preistorico, where artificial volcanoes and dinosaurs recreated perfectly create the ideal environment to spend a day out for young and old.
Traditions and Typical products
A typical product of the area is the uva colombana di Peccioli. A particular sweet grapes and dark which has elongated grains. This fruit is ideal to finish a meal or to prepare a sweet pastry stuffed with grapes.
