Patata bianca del Melo

Ideal base for the tortello and rich product properties

White potato of Melo tree is a typical product of the Montagna Pistoiese. This product has always been recognized for his goodness and for the beneficial properties due to its high concentration of phosphorus, mineral constituent of bones and teeth and stimulating for the memory.

The potato of the Apple-tree takes its name from the area where it is grown, Melo, a village in the municipality of Abetone Cutigliano. Here, as always, is paid much attention to its culture medium at more than 1,000 meters above sea level, in an area famous for its mountains.

Every year more than 300 bushels are collected for marketing, mainly in its region of production where it is traditional to eat regularly and use it for the filling of the famous tortelli di patate, in alternative to the stuffing of ricotta of sheep massese
