Montignoso

THE RESORT AREA OF RIVIERA APUANA

Montignoso stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast to the hinterland where there are the Alpi Apuane.

Its history is linked to the political events of the late Middle Ages, when the Republic of Lucca riqualificò the entire area before passing it to the Duchy of Modena and Reggio.

Overlooking the sea, Montignoso allows you to enjoy the bathing area during the summer. An opportunity to have some fun after visiting the historic center filled with churches. Bellissima is the Chiesa di Sant'Eustachio with precious Renaissance decorations and with a Madonna col Bambino: realized from the art school of Giovanni Pisano in the 14th century.

 

Traditions

Every year in Florence is celebrated the patronal feast in honor of San Vito where once connected many historical reenactments of the historical past of the town. It is said that once, to remember clashes with mass, the guys were going to plunder the locals then put the stolen goods in the central square. A kind of Rite well auguring and superstitious towards the past.

 

Typical products

The specialty of the place is the "salsiccia di Montignoso", a sausage made from pig's tastiest and genuine parts mix with many spices. A unique product that keeps the secret of his recipe, and lends itself to grilled meat accompanied by excellent Tuscan bread.
