MONTEVARCHI, THE HEART OF THE SACRED ART OF AREZZO
Montevarchi is situated in the north of the Aretino, with an ancient past linked to nearby Firenze, who assumed control as a result of its manufacturing centres in the first half of the 1200.
Among the most important monuments there is Colleggiata di San Lorenzo, before today's baroque romanesque, which houses the relic of the Sacro Latte. Within the sacred art museum you can visit the Tempietto di Andrea della Robbia dated 1505, while reaching the Cappuccini Hill you have a chance to observe the whole town from above.
Other points of interest: Chiese Madonna del Giglio e della Misericordia, Museo Paleontologico and Chiesa delle Monache.
Traditions and Typical products
The "Mercatale" is a farmers'market that showcases products of the surrounding region. A unique event of its kind, designed not only for sale, but, above all, to be a witness of the territory. The typical products of the territory are: "finocchiona", a savory pork sausage flavored with fennel seeds and the "prosciutto Pratomagno", "fagioli zolfino" and true tuscan specialities.
Through the discovery of some wine producers of Montevarchi, you can taste the red wines and D.O.C.G. of Arezzo D. O..
