Minucciano

THE GREEN OASIS OF GARFAGNANA

Minucciano is surrounded by the highest peaks of the Apuan Alps, with a mainly green. A natural oasis where you mix the colors of its lush vegetation and its species.

After the rule of the Republic of Pisa and Florence, the village became part of the possessions of Lucca from 1447 because considered strategic gateway between Lucca and Garfagnana.

Along the streets of the old town you can breath the charm of typical Tuscan village, ideal starting point to navigate in the surrounding districts filled with churches.

To discover the natural area featuring the magical landscape you can traverse the paths traveled by springs of clear water, among the ancient chestnut groves and Mediterranean vegetation. The "Orto di Donna" is one of nature's most fascinating corners, a location where you can find a shelter for mountaineers and where is extracted the marble of Garfagnana.

 

Traditions and Typical products

In Minucciano and its fractions are held every year many events related to the typical products of the territory.

The specialties made in Tuscany come mainly from mushrooms and chestnuts, which with the traditional handwork garfagnina gives life to a great flour to prepare delicious desserts.
