The famous street theatre festival, which this year will have the theme "La Santa Allegria" will kick off in Certaldo's beautiful setting.
From 10 to 14 July the Florentine village will be animated by shows, events, original performances; The festival will be divided into 12 sections, with about 80 companies for over 100 performances per evening, surrounded by artistic installations and scenic craftsmanship.
The theme chosen for Mercantia 2019 is a tribute to the pleasure of living, between sacred and profane "The basic idea of Santa Allegria is to enhance a combination, holiness and pleasure to live, two apparent opposites that in popular tradition have instead manifested themselves often together – explains the artistic director Alessandro Gigli, – and it is in this perspective that we have redesigned the whole festival, where the old street art is renewed and rises to Fourth Theatre to create unique shows, which escape the categories traditional ones."
