A BEAUTIFUL MEDIEVAL VILLAGE
Manciano is a quaint country occupying the southern part of Maremma plain, but that deeper inland assumes a particular shape.
Inhabited sincethe bronze age, the country knows a strong development during the middle ages, when many Tuscan families stabilized in place. Granted in the second half of the 16th century to Cosimo de' Medici, the country assumed an important role as an agricultural center for most of Maremma.
Still today you can visit the old churches, the ancient fortifications and villas in Libertystyle. The Chiesa di San leonardo dating back to the 15th century houses valuable paintings by Paride Pascucci, and the remains of the beautiful 13th century Mura di manciano which give the medieval charm to the village.
Traditions and Typical product
One of the traditions that Manciano is more connected is the Palio delle Botti, a race where representatives of local districts will compete in a race in which they push the barrels through the streets of the beautiful country. An event that allows you to taste the typical dishes of Maremma cuisine accompanied by fine Tuscan wines.
