THE RENAISSANCE TUSCAN VILLAGE
Magliano in Toscana, in the heart of Maremma extends its surface between a small part of the Tyrrhenian coast and the fascinating inland is flat hills. Its ancient history dating back to Etruscan times is evidenced by the discovery of the precious Disco di Magliano, a finding that has allowed us to study and understand the Etruscan language.
In the late Middle Ages Magliano knows a strong artistic development of Renaissance. The ancient city walls finished in 1323 was enlarged and embellished, and is today a real monument, as well as the beautiful churches scattered in the village and in the surrounding villages.
Traditions
The most important tradition of Magliano in Toscana is the Palio della Ruzzola, a popular festival in which representatives of the surrounding districts in Magliano will compete at the launch of ruzzola. A special wooden disk that must cross a precise treppo, an obstacle course.
Typical products
Magliano you can taste two dishes. The schiaccia pizzicata di Montiano: this cake after baking takes almost the shape of a cake crushed, characterized by delicate flavor of fresh ricotta and decided the raisins.
The lunghino di Pereta, a special homemade pasta made from water and flour topped with savory meat sauces.
