ONE OF THE OLDEST VILLAGES OF AREZZO
The village was founded in 1050 initially with name "Loro", which literally translated from Latin means Laurel. Subsequently following the settlement of the Etruscans was added Ciuffenna as the name of the creek near. The territory has an extensive wooded area surrounding near the mountainous, places inhabited by wild boar, roe deer and fallow deer from.
Special feature of Loro Ciuffenna is the water mill, the oldest of Tuscany and still working and used for grinding of chestnut flour, typical of the place and situated in the historical centre of the village .
Traditions and typical products
Loro Ciuffenna hosts the traditional recipes and typical dishes of Tuscany. The specialty of the place is the "castagnaccio", a particular sweet chestnut flour with raisins, pine nuts, walnuts and Rosemary in the soft dough.
You can also taste tuscan wines of Arezzo: the Ruschieto, a soft, cool, Sangiovese Sangiovese Cabernet a fresh red and fragrant and the upper Valdarno D.O. C. a Rosé, first out under this new name.
