Barbara Cerri's Farm is a Follonica business engaged in the cultivation of lavender and the processing of its flowers.
The tradition of lavender cultivation is lost in the distant past: the Etruscans were great lovers of this plant who usually used to trade with noble Roman families.
Lavender is a plant with numerous properties and the Etruscan people were already aware of its positive characteristics (antiseptic, analgesic, anti-neuralgia and sedative) confirmed by modern herbalism.
In Maremma, one of the privileged places of the Etruscan civilization, thanks to the Cerri family, the cultivation of lavender so appreciated by the ancient descendants has been revived. Following the passionate work of Barbara Cerri and her staff, the beautiful maremma beers, in addition to being colored by the gold of wheat and the greenery of the vines and olive trees, are also colored by the intense purple of lavender.
The officinal wash and its virtuous, elegant andbeneficial flowers are cultivated, by Cerri, with organic methods in order to generate quality products. There are 20000 plants curated by Barbara and harvested manually, with the help of the sickle alone.
From the precious and small fragrant glasses is obtained an Essential Oil and a high-end Lavender Hydrolate. These two products, with multiple virtues, are made, with great attention to respect for the raw material, exclusively within the company laboratory.
