THE CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA AND THE MARRIAGE OF LEONARDO DA VINCI
The town from Roman, Lamporecchio is located at the bottom of the mountain range of Montalbano. Was the subject of contention between Florence and Pistoia in medieval times, from 1351 was placed under the rule of the latter.
In the center of the town is the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, which is said to have hosted the marriage of Leonardo da Vinci. The building has a bas-relief of the Vergine con il Bambino by Donatello's school on the holy water stoup dating back to 1300.
Traditions
In addition to the traditional production of Brigidini, Lamporecchio links its name from the eighteenth century to textiles. In the country there was a school in which seems to have created the typical "point of Lamporecchio".
Typical products
The Brigidini of Lamporecchio, specialties and typical product of the municipality, Aniseed-flavoured sweet waffles are made with eggs, flour and sugar that once crushed by red hot tiles are then modeled by hand.
