PESCA REGINA OF LONDA

Fruit typical of the Val di Sieve

The merit of the extant cultivation of peaches Queens in Val di Sieve is perhaps due to the Medici family, who during the 1500 introduced within their property, with rigid patterns of cultivation and a setting of crops perfectly geometric. Are peaches from the round shape and large, slightly flattened and unmistakable scent, strong and penetrating. Is a white skin with shades of green and red, its consistency is sweet and very hard.

Of all the white-fleshed peaches grown in this area turns out to be the best. The period of culture embraces September and occurs in soils little moist and sheltered from the wind. Val di Sieve and a little all the Tuscan Apennines, being unspoiled land, lend themselves very well to the production of peaches which require dry soil and a sunny environment. Peaches Londa Queens are called "later" for preserving their taste and their integrity for the following week to the culture. Crops demanding and require very hot summers. They are exceptionally good for fresh consumption.
