FULL IMMERSION IN CHIANTI
Greve in Chianti is the only municipality whose boundaries fall in full in the Chianti area. Since the middle ages has served as important a market despite being a simple dependence of the nearby Castello di Montefioralle, located just above the city. Its position as a critical crossroads of Valdarno, Greve valley and the road from Florence to Siena favoured economic development. Its geographical location, in the period of greatest artistic and cultural fervor, was undoubtedly a positive influence for the development of the entire territory of Greve.
The oldest part of the village revolves around the Convento di San Francesco, which since 2002 hosts the Museo di Arte Sacra di Greve in Chianti and the market square, triangular shaped.
Traditions and typical products
Like all municipalities in the Chianti, Greve product par excellence is the red wine Chianti Classico, with its typical Ruby and a dry and slightly tannic. The brand that has always characterized this fine wine is the Gallo Nero, historical symbol of the Lega del Chianti that Greve was part.
