Giulio Giannini e Figlio is an art workshop founded in 1856 specialized in making quality handicrafts.
In 1856 Pietro Giannini opened a stationery shop mainly in Piazza Pitti in Florence, but realized even bindings of books and records of accounts. He was succeeded by Julius Senior who transformed the paternal job working on leather binding and determining bindery Italian Florentine style.
In 1890 his son Guido joined his father Giulio? Senior creating the company Giulio Giannini & son. Giulio Sr. turned to playing in different styles, and bindings for this commissioned the best engravers of the era a lot of punches in bronze in various designs; If there are more than 1000 specimens.
Guido Sr, circa 1904, influenced by the refined taste of this period, plays out of books, cards and other items, ornaments and miniatures taken from ancient manuscripts, beginning a marketing of what is now known as "style Fiorentino". In 1929 collaborated with Countess Eleonora Gallo to complete woodblock prints.
The son of Guido Sr, book Illustrator and painter Giulio Junior was in addition to bookbinder. His greatest achievements were made in symbolic style with figurative decorations.
After years '60 to Giulio Jr joined the sons Enrico and Guido Jr, dedicating the first production development of marbled papers, and the second oldest styles engages in research. Giulio Senior ligatures, son of founder Peter marked an era in the history of Italian binding resulting in what is known as "Florentine style". Julius Senior because of his skill he was dubbed the "King of gold leaf".
