The Baldoria is a tradition handed down for over 100 years in Viareggio in the Versilia territory and turns each in the first week of September.
Was born in tribute to the Virgin Mary which did stop the plague of Viareggio in 1854. In the days before the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin, the 'curatino' invited the people to rally around the Tabernacle at the foot of the bridge to pray to our Lady; It was thus the revelry and the bonfire.
During the tradition before the bonfire of pine needles has given way to the wooden pallets, which I burned in the city center.
This tradition is an opportunity for anyone visiting Viareggio to live a typical occurrence that takes you back in time.
