BETWEEN VILLAGES AND NATURE
Along the Arno River and the river Elsa, a few kilometres from Florence, Empoli-Valdelsa area is located in the heart of Tuscany. Along with an exceptional artistic heritage made up of villages, churches and stately homes, the area also boasts prestigious natural areas: the northern Montalbano, Fucecchio marshes bordering the province of Pistoia, the largest internal wet area of Italy destination for many fans of birding and the rolling hills of Valdelsa, crossed by "Via Francigena", an ancient pilgrimage route.

In the succession of history Empolese Valdelsa area was source of great personalities: Giovanni Boccaccio, one of the greatest writers of the ' 300 lived and died in Certaldo; Pontormo, Mannerist painter was born in Empoli and closer to our days Indro Montanelli, undisputed protagonist of Italian journalism, a native of Fucecchio.
Traditions and Typical products
The precious territory of the Empolese-Valdelsa area is above all the production area of the popular Vino Chianti, in the Colli Fiorentini, Montalbano, Montespertoli sub-areas, while the olive trees in the area offer a precious extra-virgin olive oil IGP.
Agriculture alongside then traditional manufacturing activities, including the historic pottery by Montelupo Fiorentino and green glass production to Empoli alongside many leather goods in area of Fucecchio and to companies that specialize in making picture frames scattered in Valdelsa.

The municipalities included within what is called the "surrounding" Empolese Valdelsa are: Capraia e Limite, Castelfiorentino, Empoli, Fucecchio, Cerreto Guidi, Gambassi Terme, Montaione, Montelupo Fiorentino, Montespertoli and Vinci.
