Summer is the season of long walks on the beach and swimming in the sea... also for our four-legged friends. Dogs have a lot of fun running on the sand, swimming and diving: if you want to book a holiday or just spend a day at the beach, take note of the best pet-friendly Tuscan beaches.
The Dog Beach of San Vincenzo
San Vincenzo, in the province of Livorno is known as one of the best beaches for dogs in Tuscany: there is an equipped stretch and a completely free one (with free access).
Unlike most pet-friendly beaches, there is no obligation to keep the dog on a leash and this makes your holiday really relaxing: dogs of all sizes are allowed and every Sunday, if necessary, a veterinarian is present for free.
Bagno Flavio - Forte dei Marmi
For those who do not want to give up luxury, we recommend the Bagno Flavio in Forte dei Marmi in Versilia. It is a bathing establishment where dogs of all sizes are allowed; it has a beach equipped with a restaurant: access for dogs is free and for them you will also find dedicated showers. To enter you need a microchip or an identification tattoo and a health certificate in order.
Playa del Can - Orbetello
Really a nice dog friendly beach equipped. Here furry friends can paw freely and jump into the water, the parking is large and after walking a short stretch of maritime forest you get to the beach (about 6 km long); here there are no bars but you will find several on the nearby beaches.
Bagni Eugenia Beach (Lido di Camaiore)
The Eugenia bathing establishment offers a very attentive service for dogs: spacious tents where you can keep them cool, bowls for water and food.
Only medium and small dogs are allowed and are welcome throughout the bathing establishment and also at the restaurant; here, at Lido di Camaiore, your 4-legged friend will also be offered an aperitif based on croquettes.
Having a dog at home means having an extra member of the family to take on holiday: Tuscany offers a choice of accommodation and services for all those who wish to enjoy the beach holiday together with their pets.
