CROSSING OF VALLEYS
The village lies on the left bank of the river Sieve at the confluence with the Comano, where cross the vallata del Mugello with the Valdisieve and the Valley of San Godenzo. Dicomano belongs to Mugello Union despite being geographically the last municipality of Northwest Valdisieve.
Of ancient origins, it is assumed the presence of human settlements since prehistoric times. The subsequent history of the village is linked to the strategic location of its territory, a place of Exchange, meeting and communication. The village in the middle ages, in fact, became one of the most prestigious marketing and logistics centres. The city centre was destroyed in the earthquake of 1919 and during the bombings of World War II. Since 1946 the architect Leonardo Savioli oversaw the reconstruction project post/war.
