THE VILLAGE THAT RESEMBLES A NATIVITY SCENE

 

Coreglia Antelminelli is located between immense expanses of chestnuts, between the Apuan Alps and the Apennine mountains.

 

Coreglia represents the Garfagnana in all its most characteristic aspects. The lush nature, given its location in the heart of a natural environment between vineyards and woods. The village has a fascinating medieval history. It was conquered by Lucca and Firenze, then passed to Francesco Castracani degli Antelminelli in 1352 and administered by his ancestors, from whom he definitively took the name in 1862.

 

The historic center is an open-air nativity scene from which different trekking routes start.

 

Traditions and Typical products

From the nineteenth century, the village has developed the art of "figurinaio", a gypsum worker who over the years has specialized in the production of statuettes of the crib. The School of drawing and plastic passes with passion the particular job of the figurine, while antique shops show knowledge of master craftsmen.

Coreglia Antelminelli is a great place to enjoy mushrooms and chestnuts of Garfagnana. The land links its name at "Borghe", chestnuts that are boiled in milk with sugar and cream and let it dry.
