MEDIEVAL CHEST
It was formerly known as "Civitella del Vescovo" because subject to the Bishops of Arezzo. The territory that covers an area of 100 km ², is divided between a flat area and a low mountain that surrounds the village of Civitella as a casket enclosed in the medieval walls. Interesting remains of the fortress of Civitella, built in Roman times; the ruinous condition prevailing in the castle is due to the destruction of the German army during 1944. On the morning of 29 June 1944 Civitella and two other neighboring municipalities were exterminated counting 244 victims.
The Sentiero del Canale Maestro della Chiana which connects Arezzo cycle and hiking trail is Closed from Civitella and that allows you to discover the Val di Chiana in all its beauty.
Traditions
Il teatro moderno di Tegoleto was born between the years '50 and '60. Initially, after the abandonment of cinemas cinema was converted into a theater where today you can see many shows.
Typical products
The typical products of Civitella are reminiscent of the typical products of the whole Val di Chiana, as the unmistakable "chianina", "castagnaccio", "ribollita" and the "crostini neri".
