MEDIEVAL VILLAGE AND NATURE
This small mountain village overlooking the Valle del Casentino, from whose altitude, 653 m above sea level, you can enjoy the Tuscan landscape below. In addition to the characteristic historical centre, in Castel Focognano you can admire the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio in Socana, which stands on the spot where once existed an Etruscan Temple; the Chiesa di San Martino, built in the 11th century and rebuilt after severe damage.
To get in touch with nature that surrounds the village, the ideal is a visit to the Parco Fluviale del fiume Arno e del torrente Salutio, where closely observe rare wildlife.
Traditions and typical products
The Tuscan cuisine is at home in Castel Focognano. The rigatino di Castel Focognano, is a typical sausage that has a special process and a characteristic rectangular shape. Since 1995 also Arezzo got the name Toscana IGT and this allowed Castel Focognano to host a selection of high quality wines.
