THE ETRUSCAN ORIGIN AND THE PONTORMO'S FRESCOES
Town of Etruscan origin, Carmignano was the subject of contention between the cities of Prato, Pistoia and Florence before becoming common.
The Medici family, who used to frequent the areas of Montalbano, built a villa that from 2013 has been included among the UNESCO World Heritage site. The chiesa gotica di San Michele is a most historical and artistic value of Carmignano. The portico and the Renaissance cloister are an example of perfect symmetry, inside you can admire thefresco of the Visitation of Pontormo, dating from the 16th century.
