OLD FISHING VILLAGE
The municipality of Campo extends in the South western part of the island, on the slopes of Monte Capanne. You can admire the richness of its beautiful Gulf sailing up the hilly area of the municipality until the two hamlets of San Piero and Sant'Ilario; fortified towns, known for centuries-old granite quarries where time stood still. The inhabited area of the country, once called Port'i Campo developed around the Tower of Marina di Campo, coastal defences erected by the Spaniards during their occupation, dated 1596.
The heart of the town, consisting of many small villages and hamlets, is Marina di Campo that during summer season is the most famous seaside resort on the island.
