A FOLK VILLAGE
Campagnatico ranks among the Valle dell'Ombrone and the northern part of Maremma. Its history is linked to the struggle between two families of viscounts of Siena narrated by Dante Alighieri in La Divina Commedia.
Campagnatico keeps intact the medieval charm and typical Tuscan historic towns. Packed with beautiful churches, one of the most interesting sights is the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista in Gothic-Romanesque style. Inside, the Madonna con bambino, fresco of two hundred of Guido di Graziano.
Traditions and Typical products
One of the oldest traditions is the Palio dei Ciuchi of Campagnatico. An event that evokes the medieval folklore during which districts will compete in a fun ride on donkeys.
There are many typical of the Maremma of the place, as the "ravioli di patate" with wild boar sauce that can be tasted in the country.
