Camaiore is a Tuscan town which is divided between sea and mountains. Extends from the coast of the Ligurian Sea, where is Lido di Camaiore, up inland facing the Apuane Alps.
Inhabited since the time of the Neanderthals and urbanized during the Roman period, experienced a strong development during the middle ages. The victory of Lucca to Pisa, which controlled the territory, allowed Camaiore to turn himself in as a citizen. The whole area was protected by a wall of which only some ruins remain today.

Traditions
Camaiore is home to many traditional festivals: "La processione", a religious event where the passersby walking on particular rugs made with colored sawdust. Typical products
In addition to the fresh fish that you can enjoy in the resort of Lido di Camaiore, accompanied by fine Tuscan white wines, the town is famous for two pies: "torta di pepe", a pie stuffed with Swiss chard and rice, spicy, cinnamon and cheese Roman pepper; and "torta di cioccolato", which is different from the classical ones because, at the base of rice cooked in milk and custard, almonds, pine nuts are added and a few drops of Alkermes liqueur.
