IN THE HEART OF MUGELLO
The country, which is the most important centre of Mugello, lies where the Val di Sieve is wider. Here strolling the streets, paths and trails along the River in an unspoilt environment we rediscover the harmonious relationship between man and nature.
Borgo San Lorenzo belonged, in the Middle Age, to the Ubaldini, until the 10th century, before passing under the civil power of the Florentine bishops to which rebelled in 1273 to be proclaimed municipality. Theatre of struggles between Guelphs and Ghibellines, the country followed the fortunes of Florence but its advantageous position as a road junction on thevalley where it rises, made the reference centre and a market in the area.
During World War II, in 1943, was the bombing of the British; Today the old town has been fully restored. Guests can visit the Palazzo del Podestà, the Clock tower and the ancient Via Mazzini.
Traditions
Borgo San Lorenzo has a tradition of making pottery since 1906 Galileo and Chino Chini founded the manifattura Fornaci San Lorenzo, famous for the production of ceramic and stoneware jugs, mugs, vases, building tiles and majolica tiles from the art nouveau style.

The country welcomes visitors throughout the year with festivals and events where you can discover the excellence of the territory: from the ancient to the truffle, prepared breads tortello ovens until IGP chestnut "brown".
