Artistic village of merit
The commune has ancient origins dating back to 979 a.d. although the Etruscans in creating the first settlements and to civilize the country. Bibbiena is a most interesting artistic centres of Tuscany. Proof of this is the Chiesa di San Lorenzo, keeper of two important works of Andrea della Robbia, and the cloister dating back to the 17th century.
Noteworthy the Italian Centre of art photography arose in the former prison of the country, among the best of its kind in the world that has been handed down for over 50 years the memory of the place.
Traditions and typical products
During the Sunday before Mardi Gras takes place on Carnival of Bibbiena. The medieval festival is buzzing with pageants as the race of Carraccio, a knightly tournament
Among the typical dishes of the local tradition the acqua cotta, vegetable or meat stew Prosciutto del Casentino, Tuscan raw matured from 40 to 50 days, after two distinct salting.
